Student Room

Residents live in heated rooms, furnished with a bed, desk, desk chair, arm chair, bookshelves, wardrobes and a rubbish bin, as well as connections for a telephone and the internet. All bedding is provided, and a sheet and pillow case are changed and laundered every Tuesday. There is approximately one bathroom to every six residents. All rooms also come with a view.

Kitchens

Every floor is provided with a kitchen which doubles up as a common room. In each kitchen there is a microwave, electric oven, kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, and lockers are provided for each of the residents. There is also a communal fridge and freezer for each floor, though many residents also bring their own. There is also a table, chairs, and people in the kitchen (not shown).

Study Room

A dedicated quiet study room is available 24 hours every day on the 1st floor of Howitt Hall. You can access the fast Monash wireless network from the study room and there is also a laser printer for printing off assignments and homework.

Common Room

The ground floor common room (GFCR, as it is known) is a space provided for all residents, with plenty of comfy arm chairs and natural light. A new addition is a 50 something inch plasma TV with DVD Player! Daily newspapers are also delivered here for the convenience of all residents. Be careful - some residents have reported spending whole afternoons on the comfortable couches. The GFCR also serves as the base for Howitt's many functions and twice-weekly suppers.

Pool Room

The pool room is a popular place in Howitt. Every year a competition is held for the Terry Robb Trophy and or Clare Walker perpetual Trophy, which attracts residents of all skill levels. A mixed competition is also held during the year. It is a great way to unwind, or take a break from study. Cues, chalk and balls are all provided.

The Games Room

Residents have 24hour access to the Games Room. It has foosball, air hockey, television and VCR on one end of the room, and table tennis table on the other end. Bats and Nets are provided. Residents need to supply their own table tennis balls.

Projector Room

A newly installed HD projector, Foxtel, surround sound, DVD, video, and seating for a large group of people: this is where the real entertainment happens. You can even plug your Playstation or Xbox in for big screen gaming experience.

Music Room

For all the music lovers, there's a music room, furnished with a piano and several power points, so you can play just about anything in here. You can pretend to be Harry Conncik Jr. or Tom Morello. Or even try some sort of bizare duet. Also situated in the basement so nobody has to put up with you if you happen to be awful.

Front Lawn

This is a great place to study and socialise on a nice day. It is also the scene of impromptu soccer, football, cricket and frisbee games.

BBQ

Adjoining the front lawn is the free BBQ, for cooking snags, steak, various vegetable products, and everything else growing Uni students need. Ideal for those days when it just doesn't seem right to be eating indoors.
