Guitar Hero Championship

The much anticipated innaugural Howitt Guitar Championship took place on Wednesday the 20th of May. Split into three divisions - easy, medium and expert - there was an opportunity for everyone to get involved. The night kicked off with the medium competition. Michael Petrovic made his way through the tough upper section of the draw, whilst Luci Tham proved the giant slayer in the lower half, taking out the fancied Sheldon Kendrick to advance to the final.

The grand final saw Luci sweep her way to the title, a worthy winner. Next up the easy competition raised a few eyebrows, with the entry of a few more advanced players than expected. Nick Murray took advantage of his 'modesty' to advance to the final where he faced off with the unknown quantity in James Pho. Pho shaped for the upset when he led through the first song of the final, only to see Murray's star power snatch victory in the final seconds. Murray continued his dominance to take the second game and the title. The real Guitar Hero nerds were up next in the expert competition. The crowd was truly entertained and amazed watching on as the two Americans in Jon Meunier and Josh Jeffreys advanced to the final. The much anticipated match-up did not deliver the goods with Jon taking the game in straight sets with a convincing display. Congratulations to our champions: Nick Murray (easy), Luci Tham (medium) and Jon Meunier (expert).
